The main activity of “Kolnasāta” is preparation of Latgale home-made beer according to an old recipe. Brewing takes place in wooden tuns. In brewing process is used homemade malt, which is prepared from barley, grown on the farm and dried in a smoked sauna.
On the farm all visitors can enjoy Latgale home - brewed beer. There is the possibility to get acquainted with the brewing process, enjoy Latgale hospitality and beer snacks. Campfire soup is also available.

Recipe of the preparation of beer «Kolnasāta»:
In brewing process are used malt and hops prepared on the farm. Hops have the alpha-acids and essential oils that contribute to beer bitterness, aroma and stability.
Grinded malt is added to a wooden tun and mixed with boiled water. The mixture leaves to stand for 4 hours. Then it is poured off through a wooden container. The wort is poured into a tun for fermentation and then a decoction of hops is added to it. The wort is cooled to + 20 ° C and then brewer's yeast is added. Beer is filtered through cotton gauze and filled into barrels.
